Shift's process and payment details were difficult for car sellers to understand, leading to confusion and frustration at every step. We redesigned the estimate page to enhance clarity early in the experience.

After launch, conversion increased in one region but sharply decreased in another, revealing lack of product market fit and significant regional differences. We conducted testing to diagnose the issue, and decided to give users a choice between the “old method” and a newer experimental method of selling a car with Shift.
After 5 months of multiple iterations, the team well surpassed business goals.
